It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government.

Thomas Paine

Dear Supporters,

I would like to start off by giving God glory for all he has done for me in this campaign. When I filed at the last minute to run for State Representative I knew almost nobody in the Travis County Republican party, I had never worked with a campaign, I didn't know any of the campaign finance laws, I didn't have much money, and I was unorganized (due to never having done this before). Add to this, the fact that I look very young and have no kids and you have a recipe for disaster. However that was not the case. Yesterday, God blessed me with 40% of the vote. I consider that a victory in my book.

What really made this campaign great was, along the way I met some really great people I would never have met any other way, people who have a love of liberty in their hearts. I look forward to developing these relationships and serving with these people in the years to come. You people know who you are, Thank you!

I would like to give special thanks to several people:

  • My wife who was super supportive, and puts up with all the crazy shenanigans I get myself into (like running for office). Each day when I come through that door my poor woman has no idea what new crazy thing I am about to drag her into. I thank God for her every day.
  • Every single person who gave money! You worked hard for that money, and the fact you entrusted it to me is super humbling.
  • Bryan who built an awesome website.
  • Adam who created some great looking handouts and helped me with presentation.
  • Matt who took some really spectacular photos at the last minute for me.
  • David for being such a devoted friend. He would come up from San Antonio to drive me around and knock on doors. He was also a moral encourager when I was feeling down and beat up.
  • Katie for promoting me on the radio.
  • Robert for giving some good campaign advice.
  • Jonathan for taking me under his wing even though he was running someone else's campaign.
  • Holly, for her encouragement even though she had her own campaign.
  • The Republican Liberty Caucus and the great people who make up that caucus.
  • Joe, Mary, Henry, Carrie, and Pierre who helped in more ways than I can enumerate.

Finally I would like to say thank you to every single voter who voted for me. You only get one vote every two years to try and change the world. You have only one chance to choose someone who is going to serve you with integrity and preserve our freedoms. That makes your one vote very valuable to you. It is very humbling to know this year you entrusted that vote in me, so I would like to say thank you!

To Pat McGuiness I would like to say Congratulations. If I had to lose I am thankful it was to you. Thank you for keeping the race clean. My first experience in politics was a pleasant one because of your character. I would also like to congratulate you on a well run campaign. I wish you all the luck in your run against Mark Strama. In some ways I am actually relieved it is you and not me. It will be tough but I ask you to hang in and fight hard. Maintain your character and trust God. The people of District 50 have put their trust in you!
